On some extended overlanding trips one needs to be self-sufficient for at least 7 to 8 days due to the lack of shopping malls and fuel stations. The availability of water may also be non-existent, unreliable or even contaminated at times.
The vehicle needed to be accessorised and equipped accordingly and we have attempted to cover most eventualities using common sense and a tight budget. If one is not careful one's hard-earned cash can easily disappear into the proverbial huge bottomless hole.
